It’s high time we stop giving an audience to people who “Cry Out for Attention”. By that, I mean people who do things to shock us…things to hurt others, just to bring attention to themselves. We have to decide once and for all that we are NOT going to give them an audience. If we all join together, maybe they’ll get the message and learn that these kinds of things won’t be tolerated. You know what ‘things’ I’m talking about. When people make racial comments in the media, say that recent Oscar nominees are ‘fat’ (as if they don’t have a mirror), etc. When you hear any of these things, KNOW that people like this are just crying out for attention. You’ve heard the story of the boy who cried wolf. I’m just sayin’…..

This could be a banner year for Gabourey Sidibe, who’s nominated for her breakout role in “Precious”. She says it’s been a year of breakthroughs for her. Although, I have yet to see the movie, I’ll be there rooting for her, Monique, and Lee Daniels in their nominated categories. Monique has swept virtually every award show this year, so if she doesn’t take this one home, it will be a shock. Morgan Freeman is nominated as well for Actor in a Leading role in “Invictus”, so good luck to him!! I’ve gotta say I’m rooting for Sandra Bullock, she’s always been one of my favorite actresses, which puts me in somewhat of a dilemma because she’s up against Gabourey. It’s gonna be a great show!!! Good luck to ALL of the nominees….

How do you handle situations when people take things too far? Whatever the case may be. At work…at home…when you just know someone is purposely trying you because they know that deep down you are a genuinely good person. Do you turn the other cheek, because you know that’s the Christian way? Do you lose your cool? Do you show that silent strength? Sometimes we find ourselves in those situations and my word to you is to hold on and don’t give up because just when you think that nice guys always finish last…they don’t. I’m just sayin’.

Sometimes, we run into a situation, through no fault of our own, we are tried and tested. I’d like to think of these as situations to make us stronger, although we may not see it at the time. We’re often asking, “Why is this happening?” When these things arise, we often look for moral support….from friends, family, or wherever we can find it. One such source for me is Rev. Run, who is a GREAT motivator!! I get his “Daily Word” emails and follow him on Twitter. It seems that whatever I may be going through, he’s always there with a great motivational message to spur me on….and it’s always right on time. Whether it’s a daily scripture, encouraging words from friends, or prayer, these are the things that keep me motivated in what seem to be increasingly stressful days. What motivates you? How do YOU keep it moving?

I was watching the movie, “He’s Just Not That Into You”, which is a GREAT movie by the way, and it prompted me to pass this on (and get over some things myself). A lot of us have been in relationships (or thought we were in a relationship when in all actuality, we were the only person doing all the ‘relating’) where we’ve had really deep feelings for someone who just didn’t feel the same way and we needed that SOMETHING to shake us out of it, that AHA moment. We needed something to let us know that we deserved better, someone who is absolutely going to ADORE us, and if we’re in a situation where we’re someone’s ‘option’ and not their ‘priority’, we should definitely be doing some soul searching. While the movie (and the book) is hilariously funny, it has some great insight. Sometimes, it’s better to be alone than be someplace you’re not wanted, because unwanted attention is the WORST!! Treasure yourself enough to know that you deserved to be treasured. I’m just sayin’……..

One should always looked to be inspired, if not from within, from powerful, spiritual people.

Ahhh…it’s that time of year again, when we ALL vow to stop smoking, lose weight, save (more) money or whatever the case may be. Last year, MY New Year’s resolution was NOT to make a New Year’s resolution and I’m happy to say…I stuck to it!!! This year, I think I’m going to make one though. I’m on a mission to help INSPIRE more people to be positive. Be positive about what they say and what they do. I’m also going to do it myself. I’m also encouraging people not to take whatever negative situations they may be going through INTO the new year. Resolve it NOW. If it can’t be resolved…then agree to disagree and move on. Life is too short to always be angry and harbor negativity. You push out negativity by being positive. Embrace positivity and bring about great things! This is my New Year’s Resolution. What’s yours?

Alicia Keys has released her entire album (The Element of Freedom) to her Facebook fans…all 1,411,897 of them…before it hits stores on December 15th. Quite an innovative move! I just had a chance to listen to the entire album. She’s done it again. Beautiful ballads about what else? Love! Some of the standout tracks…”Love is Blind”, “Unthinkable”, “That’s How Strong My Love Is” (My fav!), and “How it Feels to Fly”. A very solid project from Ms. Keys.

This….is why I’m such a HUGE fan of Mary J. Blige:

MJB from her Facebook fan page on December 1st.
