Growing up hearing various “discussions” between the men and women in my family I noticed something…..Men and Women hear things totally different. I remember my mother asking my dad to taste some collards and his response was something like” they taste like they normally due just needs some salt”. What she heard was “The collards are always bland and you could’ve put some salt in them for flavor!”lol Obviously this is an exaggeration but you get the picture. Why do men & women hear things so differently? If you’ve been in any kind of relationship you exactly what I’m talking about.  Do you have any examples of this on going question?

Have you ever caught yourself getting ready to explode in RAGE and let someone have it but something in you says”Is it really worth it”? I mean you had those four letter words ready to roll and mama jokes to follow but something stopped you. We’ve all been there and some of us have actually done that!lol But seriously that something in us that told the majority of us not to over re-act is what has kept a lot of our friendsships together, kept a lot of us from getting fired from work and has kept marriages together as well. A former General Sales Manager of mine use to tell me when I was a manager ” Make sure you know which mountain to put your flagpole in” meaning make sure what you stand for or say is worth it and makes sense”. Not everyone is worth seeing your good, your bad, and your ugly. Now that’s my saying.  What are your thoughts?

I’m still getting the hang of it, learning all of the lingo, but it’s fun to jot down your thoughts on the go. It’s like a mobile journal, if you will. Let’s see how long it lasts….I get bored pretty quick….. I’m just sayin’….

In this day and age of ’social networking’, one has to be up on all of the latest technology. I’d like to think I’m one of those people. I mean, I AM a gadget freak. I’m one of those people who just HAS to have the newest, hottest phone, p.d.a. television, etc. When it comes to the social networking thing, that’s where I fall behind. I’m probably the last in my group to have gotten a facebook page, and this “Twitter” thing? Oh, forget it!! I don’t understand half of those terms! What is a “tweet”? and what the heck does “RT” mean??? I get emails all the time that “So and So wants to follow you on Twitter”. I guess time will tell if I get sucked into the “Twitterverse” or not. I’m just saying…..

I don’t know about you but I’ve always heard that a man is truly stable when he is married and with children. Ok some of you are saying that’s old school thinking but is it? Is there something wrong with being stable or is it a thing of the past. I’ll admit that whenI was married people assumed that I was stable because of being married. I guess there’s some truth to that if you look at it merely from a dollar and cents standpoint. Two incomes is better than one or the old country saying is…. two heads is better than 1 even if 1 is cabbage. Some people feel that being single is more stable because all you have to take care of is yourself. People from the old school would call that being selfish. What is it for you? Are you more stable single or married?

It’s a saying that we hear all the time from men and women…..I can’t find a good man/woman! Sounds familiar huh? Have you said this before? I’m guilty but what I had to do was ask myself what do I really want? It’s human nature to blame the other sex for our unhappiness when actually your happiness is determined by you and not your mate or friends. NEWS FLASH….It’s ok to be picky just don’t live in a fantasy land. If you want someone who has their life together I’m sure they do as well. Don’t ask something of someone you can’t do yourself. What do you think?

As I sit here sub teaching in Guilford County I wonder how these students can past Math without knowing how to multiply? Those of you that know me know I like to joke and laugh but I’m serious about this. Of course your saying how do parents not know well trust me they don’t. Can you imagine being in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade and not know basic multiplication? When you get home and you have kids surprise them and put some multiplication down and see if they or you can do it? It’s a good way to bond and show them your not to old to learn. If you can’t do it yall can learn together. Just a thought. What do you think?

It may seem like a silly question at first glance.   However, I’m convinced that if you really take a moment and consider this thought, you might be surprised to find out how you actually feel about the subject.  So, what is “gospel music”?
